The Philippines on Saturday tallied 26,303 COVID-19 cases, beating the previous record high of 22,820 cases tallied just two days ago.

The day's jump brought total active cases to 185,706 and the cumulative total since the pandemic began to 2,206,021.

There were 79 deaths and 16,013 recoveries reported, bringing totals to 34,978 and 1,985,337 respectively.

Out of the 26,303 new cases for the day, 1,608 should have included in Friday tally, the Department of Health said. The other 24,695 are actual cases to be reported for the day.

Even without the delay, the Sept. 11 cases still beat the previous record set on Sept. 9.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology resolved some errors last week but some data remain unavailable for extraction, the DOH said. This caused delays in the report of new data for cases, deaths, and recoveries.

"While we await full resolution of this issue, we may observe some delays in inclusion of some data in our topline numbers in the coming days but we are managing this by generating data from CDRS and submitted line lists by our disease reporting units," the DOH said.
