The Department of Health on Friday offered some pointers to Filipinos shuttling between Christmas parties as world braces for the Omicron variant -- if you must do it in person, skip the buffet.
Virtual gatherings are still the best option to avoind getting sick in the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said.
"Please do not serve buffet dishes. We can have plated dishes na lang po so there won't be congregation when you get food sa buffet table and also sharing of food," she told reporters.
She advised employers who will host in-person Christmas parties to hold it in open spaces, limit attendance to fully vaccinated, and require everyone to wear face masks and follow physical distancing.
Filipinos shouldn't be complacent despite recording cases below 1,000 for the past nine days, and with the Omicron variant still undetected locally, Vergeire said.
"Alam ko po pangalawang Pasko na po ito na different ang pag-celebrate ng ating Pasko pero sana po we can do these kinds of sacrifices so we can be able to prevent further infections in the community."
