Commuters and operators are now required to use the StaySafe app in all public utility vehicles as the country strengthens its contact-tracing efforts, transport authorities said Wednesday.
According to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, PUV operators have 30 days to implement use of the contact-tracing app in compliance with Memorandum Circular No. 2021-041.

- Register on the StaySafe.ph app and generate a QR code
- Place the QR code at the entrance door and inside of the unit for passengers to scan
- Require all passengers to scan the app when riding or alighting
- Make the gathered data available via StaySafe to the LTFRB in compliance with the Data Privacy ACt
- Coordinate with StaySafe for collection and use of data for contact-tracing
The Seven Commandments for commuters will also be strictly implemented to prevent the spread of the virus. This includes wearing face masks and shields, no talking on phones or to fellow passengers, no eating, proper ventilation within the PUV, frequent disinfection, and proper physical distancing.
