Super Typhoon Hinnamnor headed towards the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday and merge with a weakened Tropical Depression Gardo, PAGASA said. Both storms are unlikely to make landfall.
The storms could enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat which will bring rains in Luzon's western coast by the end of the week, said PAGASA.
Hinnamnor remains outside the PAR at 4 a.m., located 1,130 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with 195 kph winds and 240 kph gusts.
Tropical cyclone warning signals might be raised in Batanes or Babuyan Islands, where it is expected to dump rains when it enters PAR by Wednesday evening or early Thursday and will be given the name Henry, said PAGASA.
Gardo, the seventh storm of 2022, was spotted 1,130 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon at 4 a.m. packing winds of 55 kph with 70 kph gusts, moving northward where it could interact with Hinnamnor and become its trough or extension, said PAGASA.
In 24 hours, Luzon will have cloudy skies with possible isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. Generally fair weather with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening is expected in Visayas and Mindanao.
