Authorities evacuated people from the Taal Volcano island, which had been declared a permanent danger zone, a spokesman for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday.
It was unclear how people were able to return to the danger zone one year since the Taal Volcano eruption. The volcano remains under Alert Level 1. This means "low seismic activity" and "no eruption imminent," according to PHIVOLCS.
Alert Level 1 has been in place since March 2020, or two months after the eruption.

"This is just a precautionary measure, kasi bawal na talaga ang tao dun. Nalaman natin na meron pa ring mga nag-stay dun sa lugar so ang ating Coast Guard reminded those people na wala po talaga dapat tao so in effect inevacuate sila," NDRRMC spokesman Mark Timbal told reporters.
Timbal could not say how many people were evacuated. Here are more photos courtesy of the Philippine Coast Guard.
