(UPDATE) Actress and vlogger Toni Gonzaga on Wednesday quit Pinoy Big Brother on ABS-CBN after hosting the presidential campaign kick-off of Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
Gonzaga has drawn flak from critics of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos' only son ever since she interviewed him on her vlog last year.
"Today, I'm stepping down as your main host. I know Bianca and the rest of the hosts will continue the PBB legacy," she said on Instagram. "I will forever cherish the memories, big nights, and moments in my heart."
Gonzaga was referring to co-host Bianca Gonzales, a supporter of Marcos' chief rival, Vice President Leni Robredo.
ABS-CBN management on Thursday said it accepted Gonzaga's resignation as PBB host and "respect her personal choices."
Gonzaga was trending on Twitter shortly after she was revealed to be the host of Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte's UniTeam campaign rally in Philippine Arena, and when she introduced on stage senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta, one of the lawmakers who pushed to deny her home network ABS-CBN a new franchise.
Gonzaga was trending again on Wednesday afternoon, this time with the hashtag "#UnbotheredQueenToniG" which called out those who were "cancelling" her for hosting the Marcos campaign rally.
