The low pressure area off the country's Pacific coast has developed into a tropical depression and will be named Auring once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility later Wednesday, weather bureau PAGASA said.
At 4 a.m., the storm was located 1,070 kilometers east of Mindanao, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph with 55 kph gusts, PAGASA said. It will not affect weather in the country on Wednesday.
By Thursday morning at 5 a.m., it was forecast to be at 750 km east of Davao City. It could make landfall in the Davao-Caraga region Saturday or Sunday.
