Tropical Depression Crising was on track to hit Eastern Mindanao late Thursday or early Friday, bringing moderate to heavy rains that could cause floods and landslides, PAGASA said.
The third storm of 2021 intensified from a low pressure area overnight and was spotted 405 kilometers east of Davao City at 7 a.m. Thursday, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph with 55 kph gusts. It could intensify further, still within tropical depression strength before landfall, PAGASA said.
What is Crising's track?
The tropical cyclone will move westward or west northwestward and is likely to make landfall over Surigao del Sur-Davao Oriental on Thursday night or Friday early morning.
By Friday morning, it is expected to be in the vicinity of Compostela Valley. On Saturday morning, it is forecast at 80 kilometers west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. On Sunday morning, at 65 kilometers west southwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
"Crising" could weaken on Sunday morning while passing over Palawan then dissipate. Because it will pass over land, there is also a possibility that "Crising" may dissipate into a low pressure area within the next 36 to 48 hours.
