Typhoon Nyatoh will bring cloudy skies and rains to parts of the Bicol Region, the Visayas and Mindanao as it hovers off the Philippines' eastern coast with little chance of entering or making landfall.
The storm still takes its international name since it has not entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. At 4 a.m., Nyatoh was spotted 1,370 kilometers east northeast of Southern Luzon, packing winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour and 150 kph gusts.
"Inaasahan po natin na medyo bumababa na ang tsansa na pumasok ng ating PAR itong si Typhoon Nyatoh," weather specialist Samuel Duran said. If it enters PAR, it will be named Odette.
"Kung pumasok man ng PAR ay halos nasa boundary lang po ito kikilos and then posibleng within a day or two, or less ay lalabas ulit ng ating area of responsibility," weather forecaster Chris Perez told TeleRadyo.
Nyatoh is a species of pinkish hardwood that is common in Southeast Asia.
PAGASA is expecting one to two storms to enter the Philippines before the year ends.
