Jollibee said late Wednesday that it was shutting one of its branches in BGC, Taguig after a mother's complaint over getting a deep fried towel instead of Chickenjoy went viral on Facebook.
The three-day closure from June 3 will buy time to review the store's compliance and retrain some of its team "to ensure this will not happen again," the Philippines' largest fastfood operator said.
Alique Perez's post about the deep fried towel got 80,000 shares as of Thursday morning, two days after the photo was uploaded.
"We are deeply concerned about this matter and have conducted a thorough investigation. It is unfortunate that deviations from Jollibee's standard food preparation procedures occured on the part of certain personnel of the store," Jollibee said.
A source earlier told reportr about the investigation before Jollibee's statement was released.
