Nice Catch: Stik-O Lands on Kiko Pangilinan's Hands During Motorcade

ROXAS CITY -- Vice presidential candidate Kiko Pangilinan caught a tub of Stik-O strawberry wafer sticks from supporters during his motorcade with running mate Leni Robredo here on Tuesday, showing that during the Philippines' colorful election campaign, almost anything can get thrown between candidates and supporters.

Pangilinan caught the pink projectile with both hands, while Robredo waved to their supporters in this Visayan city. That's one color-matched snack in case they get hungry.

Motorcades have taken taken over the campaign for the May elections as COVID restrictions bar candidates from pressing flesh, kissing babies and taking selfies. During long days perched on top of pick-up trucks, candidates are known to stock up on their favorite snacks such as Coke and Chippy or a few Marlboro or Lucky Strike cigarettes for quick breaks.

Last year, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis "Chavit" Singson blasted wads of cash from a gold gun.

In 2004, before social media defined virality on the internet, GMA News filmed what appeared to be an object that almost hit the late Fernando Poe Jr., who was then campaigning for the presidency.

The footage aired on GMA newscasts did not sit well with the movie king's campaign team.
