Registering to vote in 2022 is now as easy as a few taps on your phone and generating the now-familiar QR code, Comelec said. It also doesn't require a strong internet connection.

The mobile registration form app is initially available to 500 pilot areas starting Tuesday, June 15, Comelec said during the launch.

The app is for Filipinos who have no or poor internet connection or those who want to skip the pen and paper registration which requires three physical registration forms, said Commissioner Marlon Casquejo.

"As long as merong isang cellphone na may mobile registration form app stored, it can be shared via Bluetooth or SHAREit app," he said during the virtual launch from Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

Since it is a standalone app that needs no internet connection, it is safe from hacking similar to the Comelec data breach in 2016, Casquejo claimed.

Applicants can get a copy from Office of Election Officers (OEOs) in their area. The election officers will be the ones to connect with applicants via SHAREit.

Those who want to download it ahead of visiting the nearest registration site will need internet connection to download the app here: bit.ly/MobileFormApp (take note: the link is case sensitive).

Since its announcement on Monday, the app has been downloaded more than 16,000 times, with more than 11,000 users. For now, the app is only available for Android users. Filipinos overseas cannot use the app yet, Comelec said.

Comelec still encouraged applicants with internet access to register via iRehistro.
