Those affected by the lockdown or ECQ that started Monday will be given ayuda or social amelioration, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado said.

The ayuda proposal is being reviewed by the Office of the President and "hopefully witin the day", an announcement will be made on who is eligible for the assistance, Avisado told a public briefing.

"Sinisiguro natin may inihandang ayuda ang ating national government para sa mga naapektuhan ng ECQ sa NCR plus bubble," he said.

"Meron naman pong pagkukunan tayo para sa special amelioration assistance na bibigyan natin sa naapektuhan ng kasalukuyang pinapairal na ECQ," he said.

The Enhanced Community Quarantine covers the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, from Monday, March 29 to Sunday, April 4. The move is meant to cap a worrying surge in COVID-19 cases.

Much like last year's, only industries offering essential services or selling basic goods will be allowed to operate at full capacity while other industries will be allowed to operate at limited capacities, leaving thousands out of work for the tightened lockdown's duration.
