Metro Manila will revert to the stricter enhanced community quarantine or ECQ on Aug. 6 which means stay-at-home orders are back and trips are limited to accessing basic goods.

For the upcoming ECQ, MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos said the issuance of quarantine passes would depend on the decision of the local government unit. Time restrictions prevent the capital region from issuing a uniform quarantine pass, he added.

"It will really depend if they (LGUs) will use the old ones or issue new ones through their barangay captains," he said in a Palace briefing on Monday.

Only authorized persons outside of their residences are allowed outdoors. These include frontliners and workers who need to physically report for work. The curfew in Metro Manila is also longer starting Aug 6 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Liquor bans will depend on LGUs too, Abalos said.

Metro Manila will be placed under ECQ, the strictest of the four-step community quarantine classifications, from Aug. 6 to 20 to curb the spread of the highly contagious Delta coronavirus variant.
