Baguio to Keep Track of Tourists with Online Registry

It's called the Baguio Visitor Information and Travel Assistance or VIS.I.T.A.

As Baguio City prepared to reopen to tourists, authorities launched an online registry to keep track of visitors as a complement to strict border controls as the threat of COVID-19 remains, the Department of Tourism said Wednesday.

The Baguio Visitor Information and Travel Assistance or VIS.I.T.A. will deploy Visitor Web Dashboard for travel registration, payments and QR coupon reading. It will also host advisories for tourists.

Tourism establishments can access a centralized contact-tracing database. The system can also be used to monitor visitor profiles and sites visited in real time.

The platform will have a counterpart mobile app that receives notifications and doubles as a travel guide.

Baguio actually pushed back its reopening by a week after a drinking session sparked a COVID-19 outbreak, with people reportedly sharing utensils and a shot glass.
