Presumptive president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has named his campaign manager as interior secretary, his office said Friday, as prepares a transition with his predecessor, President Rodrigo Duterte.
Benhur Abalos, Duterte's former MMDA chairman and longtime Mandaluyong City politician is the second member of the incomeing Marcos cabinet to be announced to the public, after presumptive vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio, who will handle education.
Marcos' spokesman Vic Rodriguez said purported lists of incoming cabinet secretaries on social media are not true. His announcement of Abalos' appointment was carried on state-run Radyo Pilipinas.
Abalos father, Benjamin, was elected mayor of Mandaluyong while his wife Carmencita, the outgoing mayor, was elected vice mayor.
