Classes for the next school year will officially start on Aug. 22, an order by the Department of Education released Tuesday showed.

School year 2022-2023 will have 203 school days, from Aug. 22, 2022 to July 7, 2023, said the order signed by Vice President Sara Duterte, who leads the agency.

Enrollment starts on July 25, it said.

Recognizing the need for 5-day in-person classes after two years of the pandemic, DepEd said schools are given the option to either implement 5 days of in-person classes, blended learning, or full distance learning within a transition period that will last until Oct. 31.

For schools who choose the combination of in-person classes and distance learning, classes will initially follow a period of 3-days face-to-face classes (Mondays to Wednesdays) and 2 days of distance learning (Thursdays to Fridays).

Eventually, in-person classes per week will be upgraded to 4 days (from Mondays to Thursdays) and then Friday for distance learning, it said.
