1,153 COVID Cases Logged, DOH Reminds Public on Safety Protocols

The Philippines on Tuesday logged 1,153 new COVID-19 cases, with authorities reminding Filipinos to follow safety protocols ahead of Christmas rush.

The day's tally brought active cases to 18,721. The Department of Health also reported 2,182 new recoveries and 195 deaths.

Overall, a total of 2,827,820 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,761,617 recovered and 47,482 died.

A total of 99 duplicates were removed from the case count, 94 of which were recoveries and 1 was a death. Some 87 cases were also negative and removed from the total case count. Of that number, 68 were recoveries.

There were also 170 recoveries reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH reminded the public to continue following minimum public health standards even as daily cases go down. Apart from wearing face masks and sheild, maintaining social distance and disinfecting frequently, Filipinos were encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
