The total number of Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 topped the one million mark on Friday after the Department of Health recorded 4,227 new ones, data released Friday showed.
The 1,003,160 total recoveries accounted for 92.2% of the 1,087,885 total cases as of May 7. There were 7,733 new cases for the day.
The DOH reported 108 new deaths, raising the death toll to 18,099 or 1.66% of the total cases.
Starting April 2021, the DOH has done "daily time-based tagging", which means more recoveries are expected to be reported every day, in lieu of its weekly tagging which saw a jump in COVID-19 recoveries every Sunday since August 2020.
