Manila in a Minute: COVID Hospital is Rising in Luneta

Target completion is 60 days.

Construction is underway for Manila's COVID field hospital in Luneta, which aims to help ease the burden on the health system as infections surge.

The city government hopes to finish building the 336-bed facility in 60 days. Made out of container vans, the facility will accomodate even non-Manila residents, Mayor Isko Moreno said.

It will primarily serve mild to moderate COVID cases.

On April 26, the Philippines crossed the one million cases threshold as 24 milllion people in Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal and Bulacan await President Rodrigo Duterte's decision on whether the MECQ will be extended, as recommended by Health Sec. Francisco Duque.
