4 U.S.-Trained Filipinos to Join Philippine Coast Guard

They're recent graduates of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The Philippine Coast Guard said Thursday it would soon commission four Filipinos who graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Genison Basilio, Eric Joseph Noble, Daisy Anne Atayan and Dianne Shaira Basuel were among 240 cadets who finished their studies at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut last Wednesday. They were sponsored by the PCG.

Basilio is the son of Commodore Genito Basilio, the PCG Palawan commander. He graduated with honors and received his diploma from U.S. President Joe Biden.

The four Filipinos were among seven international cadets. The others were from Sri Lanka and Georgia.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Class of 2021 is composed of 34% women and 34% minority groups. It includes 22 African-American, the largest for the ethnic group in the academy's history.
