Sen. Manny Pacquiao said Friday he would appoint honest and competent people to government if elected president, in response to a question that his good intentions alone would not be enough to lead the country.

Squaring off with his rivals in a live forum hosted by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, the retired champion boxer offered a "22 Rounds" platform that spans health, housing, education, livelihood, transportation, and utilities.

Prior to being elected congressman and senator on the strength of his status as a boxing legend, Pacquiao did not serve previously in government.

"Alam niyo po, strikto po ako pagdating sa pamumuno," he said.

Pacquiao said he would appoint, trustworthy, honest, and competent people to his government. The time limit cut short his answer.
