What Tourists Should Know Before Traveling to Ilocos Norte

Ilocos Norte reopened to tourists from Luzon on Thursday after months of tight COVID-19 restrictions. The province is home to white sand beaches, giant windmills and old churches.

Only 50 slots per day are given to tourists, with priority to those who book first. Those who are pregnant, with comorbidities, and children with chronic health conditions are not allowed to travel.

Tourists from general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ areas have to undergo RT-PCR testing within 72 hours of arrival and a rapid diagnostic test at the provincial borders.

If a visitor turns out positive, he or she has to be turned over to healthcare officials and shoulder any additional expenses.

Visitors must register on the SafePass contact tracing application, which will record their accomodation, itinerary, travel agent, medical certificate, and negative test results. The app will also generate a QR code that will serve as their Health Declaration ID and Travel Pass Authority.

Accommodation, restaurants, and tourist shops should comply with DOT guidelines, while health protocols must be observed at parks, beaches, and resorts.
