iPhone 14 Series is Official: How Much and What Changed?
Apple on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) unveiled the iPhone 14 series that reserved the beefier cameras and near notch-less design to the more expensive pro models.
The 14 skipped the mini model in favor of a larger, non-pro variant. The lineup now includes the iPhone 14 (6.1 inches, dual cameras), iPhone 14 Plus (6.7 inches, dual cameras), iPhone 14 Pro (6.1 inches, triple cameras) and the iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7 inches, triple cameras).

Essentially, Apple gave big screen lovers a less expensive option when in the past they would need to buy the most expensive Pro Max model for a 6.7-inch screen on an iPhone.
The plus nomenclature also returns for the first time since the iPhone 8 Plus in 2017. This means that plus would from this year refer to a larger display and not necessarily the pro features.
The iPhone 14 and 14 Pro Max ditched the notch in favor of two cutouts on the screen. They also sport the new A16 Bionic chip, a "pro-motion" high refresh display, and a 48-megapixel wide camera. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus retain the notch, last year's A15 Bionic and the 12-megapixel wide camera, also from the previous year.
The cutout, branded Dynamic Island, changes shape and size dependeing on the functions such as when the iPhone is in a call, charging or playing music.

This will mark the first megapixel bump for the iPhone camera in years. Apple had long kept the megapixel count at 12 while focusing on its machine learning algorithm to enhance photos. A bigger megapixel count normally means more detailed photographs.
The wide lens is actually the default lens on the iPhone, accompanied on the pro model by an ultrawide and a telephoto lens and a LiDAR depth sensor. The non-pro iPhones only have a wide and an ultra-wide lens.
How much will the new iPhone 14 series cost. Here are the starting prices for the base storage of the four models:
- iPhone 14 - P56,990
- iPhone 14 Plus - P63,990
- iPhone 14 Pro - P70,990
- iPhone 14 Pro Max - P78,990
Essentially, the iPhone 14 Pro costs roughly the same as the iPhone 13 Pro Max at launch while the iPhone 14 Pro Max takes Apple's smartphone pricing to a new high.
