Presidential candidate Isko Moreno said Thursday he was willing to appoint rival Leni Robredo to his cabinet if elected and if she agrees.

The mayor of Manila issued the statement in response to a question from reporters during a campaign stop in Cavite province. Moreno is behind Robredo in the surveys that showed Bongbong Marcos as the frontrunner.

"Why not, if she's willing?" Moreno said.

"Kung saan siya magaling, kung ano ang kagalingan n'ya, baka magamit natin siya but if she's willing. Ayoko pangunahan ang mga tao with all honesty but I can assure you, I can work with anybody."

Vice President Robredo briefly served as housing secretary to outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte. She left the cabinet due to policy differences.
