Anything but the Senate, Vice President Leni Robredo said she could run for president or a local post or retire from politics in 2022.

Robredo, who is moving to build the broadest opposition coalition, said being in the Senate would not play to her strengths.

"I can run for a local position, I can retire, I can just help the next administration if I don't run for president," she told ANC.

Robredo said the biggest consideration for her candidacy is her ability to form a coalition that is strong enough to challenge the annointed successor of President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Sabi ko naman, bukas ako sa kahit ano na would put a stop to this kind of governance already."

"If ako 'yung makakahinto kay Bongbong Marcos, ako 'yun. Pero kung hindi naman ako, willing ako to support somebody else," she said.

"Hindi ko naman tinitingnan 'yung sarili ko na savior e. I have always kept myself close to the ground. Kaya sa akin alam ko na hindi kaya ng very best of intentions."

Robredo dismissed Duterte's statement that opposition bets would lose in 2022. "Hindi naman siya ang magdedesisyon, tao ang magdedesisyon," she said.

She earlier said she has spoken with Sen. Manny Pacquiao over possible unity for 2022. Robredo said she was also open to supporting an Isko Moreno-Pacquiao tandem should the coalition decide to back them.

Robredo was also hopeful talks would continue between her and presidential aspirant Sen. Ping Lacson, despite initially declining Lacson's "unification formula" for the elections because it called for candidates to yield to the one who ranks high in surveys.

"Kahit may differences kami in opinion, pareho naman ang gusto namin in the end: what is best in the country," Robredo said.
