Bee Neutral: Jollibee Not Endorsing a Candidate in the Elections

Jollibee said Saturday it had not endorsed any candidate in the May 9 elections, in a rare statement on politics as the official campaign period continued to heat up.

The Philippines' largest fastfood operator did not mention the context of its official statement, but in the comments section of its Facebook post, users said supporters of some candidates have used Jollibee's press materials to make it appear that it had endorsed someone.

The no-politics stand applies to all of the Jollibee Group's brands -- Mang Inasal, Chowking, Greenwich and Red Ribbon.

On Friday, supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo's campaign questioned the red and green lights on the facade of Palacio del Gobernador, where Comelec headquarters is located. A spokesman for the poll body said the lighting would be rectified.

Red is the campaign color of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos while green is the choice of his running mate, Sara Duterte.
