La Nina is Here to Make 'Ber' Months Wetter Than Usual: PAGASA

The La Nina weather phenomenon has started, which could make the last few months of the year wetter than usual, PAGASA said Friday.

La Nina will likely persist until February 2022, the weather bureau said. It is the opposite of El Nino, or dryer than usual weather.

The onset of La Nina also coincides with the termination of Southwest Monsoon or Habagat. It will be replaced by the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan.

La Nina could enhance the Amihan, which means more rains and colder temperatures during the Christmas months.

During La Nina, four to six tropical cyclones are expected, most of which will make landfall, said the weather bureau. That means up to three tropical cyclones each in October and November, up to two in December, and possibly one each in January, and February next year.
