A high-definition copy of the martial law film "Liway" was released for free on Google Drive Wednesday, allowing netizens to produce copies, after Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. claimed victory in the presidential elections.
The 2018 award-winning film based on director Kip Oebanda's own childhood tells the story of Dakip, a young boy who grew up in a prison camp with his mother, Cecilia Flores-Oebanda or Commander Liway of the New People's Army, during the waning days of former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s dictatorship.
"This is yours now. Feel free to create copies, torrents, splice it, stream it, use it for your own purposes," a post on the film's Facebook page read.
The film stars actress Glaiza de Castro as its titular lead, Kenken Nuyad as Dakip, and Dominic Roco as Dakip's father, Commander Toto.
Liway first premiered in August 2018, part of the 14th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. It won the special jury award and audience choice award in the full-length feature film category.
"Liway" is also available for ad-free streaming on YouTube.
