LOOK: Construction on PNR Clark Phase 2 Underway

Construction for Phase 2 of the PNR North South Commuter Railway is underway, photos from the Department of Transportation showed.

The 54-kilometer long PNR Clark Phase 2 which runs from Malolos to Clark is now 28.79% complete. Over 7,000 construction jobs were generated through the project, with 3,000 more jobs expected once operations begin.

Upon completion, PNR Clark Phase 2 will slash travel time between Clark, Pampanga and Malolos, Bulacan to 35 minutes from one hour and 30 minutes. 

Apart from shorter travel times, the line will have the Airport Express which will connect arriving travelers from Clark International Airport to Makati in Metro Manila in just 55 minutes.

Phase 1 of the project which runs from Malolos to Tutuban is 45.82% complete as of last week. The 38-kilometer segment of the railway line is seen to ferry 300,000 passengers daily and aims to make travel between Malolos, Bulacan and Tutuban, Manila in just 35 minutes, or one-third of the usual 1-hour and 30-minute travel.

Once the two segments of the NSCR railway line are complete, they will be integrated with the PNR Calamba Phase 3 segment. According to the Asian Development Bank, it is the single largest Build, Build, Build infrastructure project.
