Magnitude 5.3 Quake Hits Batangas Town, Felt in Metro Manila
A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off the coastal town of Calatagan in Batangas on Monday afternoon, and was felt in parts of Metro Manila.
The tectonic tremor hit 24 kilometers southwest of Calatagan at 5:12 p.m., said Phivolcs.
Intensity three, which feels like vibrations from the passing of a light truck, was felt in Quezon City while intensity two, which can cause hanging objects to slightly move, was felt in San Felipe, Zambales.
The following instrumental intensities were also reported:
Intensity I - Quezon City; Tagaytay City; Batangas City; Calatagan, Batangas
Phivolcs warned of possible aftershocks but said there was no damage expected from the earthquake.
