For Taking Selfies on MRT Tracks, 2 Men Face Charges, Says DOTr

Two men face an alarm and scandal charge for taking selfies on the MRT tracks, endangering themselves and thousands of passengers on the capital's main train line, the Department of Transportation said Tuesday.

Jerald Oliva, a 22-year-old construction worker, went down the tracks at Quezon Avenue Station at 7:13 p.m. Sunday. His companion, Rey Llasos, 28, took his photos from the platform, said Asec. Goddes Hope Libiran, the DOTr spokesperson.

Libiran said the due took selfies. Their actions put themselves and commuters at risk, Libiran said.

"Mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang pagbaba sa riles ng MRT-3 sa mga hindi awtorisadong indibidwal sapagkat delikado ito at maaaring ikapahamak hindi lang ng susuway sa patakaran ngunit gayundin ng iba pang pasahero ng linya."

MRT passengers are reminded to stay behind the yellow platform edge and avoid crossing the tracks to get to the other side of the station.
