Commuters can avail of free rides in the MRT-3 until May 30 after the Department of Transportation said Wednesday it extended the program's validity for another month.

The free MRT rides, aimed at easing the financial burden of rising fuel prices, can be availed from 4:40 a.m. to 10:10 p.m. in all stations, the DOTr said.

The MRT train, which traverses EDSA from Pasay City to Quezon City, has ferried more than 7.2 million passengers since the free rides were launched last March 28.

GUIDE: How to Avail of the Free MRT Ride

To ride the MRT for free, simply tap your stored value or Beep card at the ticket gate to enter and exit the platform. Your card will not be charged for the ride.

Those without stored value or Beep cards can get single journey tickets from the ticketing booth.
