Iced tea brand Nestea was all praises for Filipina boxer Nesthy Petecio -- calling her a namesake -- for bagging a silver medal in the Olympics.
Nestea posted a punny congratulatory message for the boxer, the first woman from the Philippines to achieve such a feat in the traditionally male sport.
"Winner ka pa rin, ‘Tea! Bottomless cheers para sa’yo, Tukayo, for bagging the silver medal in the Women’s Featherweight event —the country’s first medal for women’s boxing!" the brand said.
Netizens commenting on the post urged Nestea to provide a lifetime free supply of the drink to Petecio. Nestea however has already pledged Nestlé products for her hometown Santa Cruz in Davao del Sur and a non-government organization of her choice.
Petecio takes home the silver medal after losing to Japan's Sena Irie via unanimous decision. This made Petecio the second-highest placed Filipino athlete in Tokyo 2020 after weightlifting gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.
