7,181 COVID Cases Logged as Authorities Eye Easing of Curbs

The Philippines on Wednesday recorded 7,181 additional COVID-19 cases two days before Alert Level 4 expires in the national capital region.

The day's total brought active cases to 82,411. This is the lowest number of daily cases recorded since Aug. 4. The Department of Health also reported 6,889 new recoveries and 173 deaths.

The number of cumulative cases since the panedemic began rose to 2,690,455, of which 2,567,975 recovered and 40,069 died.

Alert Level 4 in Metro Manila is set to end on Friday, with authorities eyeing to ease restrictions on businesses and movement as cases decline daily.

Kids aged 12 to 17 years old are set to receive their jabs later this week. Minors with comorbidities will be prioritized, according to the DOH.
