Certain roads in Pasig City are getting protected bike lanes to keep cyclists safe as more residents turn to active transport during the pandemic, a video showed.
Bike lanes along the Emerald, ADB, and Julia Vargas Avenues were sectioned off with bollards. Market Avenue's bike lanes will follow.
The city's transport office is currently replacing damaged bollards with new ones. A total of 8,000 bollards will deliver 16 kilometers of protected bike lanes in the city.
During the onset of quarantines last year, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced a bike-oriented path for cyclists which allows for safe passage along usually dangerous roads.
When face shields were made mandatory for the public, the city permitted cyclists to skip the shield while biking.
