The Department of Health said it was investigating the cause of a weekend fire at the Philippine General Hospital as it prepared to resume admitting COVID-19 patients on Tuesday.
Talks are ongoing to transfer non-COVID patients to other state-run hospitals, Health Sec. Francisco Duque III said late Monday during a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte.
MORE ON PGH FIRE:
There were no casulaties from the pre-dawn fire last Sunday, which hit the sterilization area of operating room equipment.
The DOH facilitated the transfer of non-COVID patients to Tondo Medical Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), Rizal Medical Center, Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, and East Avenue Medical Center. Eight out of 11 patients were transferred.
