The Philippines on Saturday reported 941 new COVID cases as millions across the country adjusted to the loosest set of restrictions since the pandemic started two years ago.

The day's tally brought total active cases to 49,374. The Department of Health also reported 109 deaths and 1,784 recoveries. Over all, the country reported 3,666,678 total COVID cases including 56,879 deaths since March 2020.

Alert Level 1 started in Metro Manila and select urban centers last March 1 and this weekend will be the first under the so-called new normal, where only face masks and hand hygiene are required.

Restaurants, shops and public transport can now run at 100% capacity.
