Booster Shots Available to All Fully Vaccinated Adults Starting Dec. 3

As the Omicron variant threat persists.

The Philippines will open COVID-19 booster shot slots to all fully vaccinated adults starting Friday, Dec. 3, the Department of Health said as the country reviews its pandemic response strategy in light of the new Omicron coronavirus variant.

Individuals aged 18 and above who have been fully vaccinated for over six months are eligible to receive booster shots starting Friday, the DOH said.

For those who were vaccinated with the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, only a three-month interval period is prescribed before taking a booster shot.

Initially, booster shots were made available only to health workers, senior citizens, and individuals with weak immune systems.

The Philippines has so far fully vaccinated some 36.8 million people as of Dec. 1, and has administered  389,451 booster shots.
