LIST: Philippines' Top 10 Apps with Most Users, Downloads

TikTok is the top video-based app for Filipinos, according to an annual report on digital consumption habits, with users double that of Instagram which is now shifting the focus to video with stories and reels.

Facebook is still the Philippines' most popular app with 83.85 million users in early 2022, according to We Are Social and Kepios' Digital 2022: Philippines report. Facebook's native messaging app Messenger was second with 55.15 million users.

In terms of active users, Facebook took top place with Facebook Messenger ranking second. The report on active users cited data from App Annie which was gathered from January to December 2021.

E-commerce apps Lazada and Shopee ranked third and fourth respectively for active users. GCash was the only mobile wallet app that made the list, in fifth place.

App Annie data showed that Instagram has more active users than TikTok, but overall data showed that TikTok had more users on the platform. Instagram had 18.65 million overall users as of 2022, while TikTok has 35.96 million overall users.

In terms of downloads, TikTok was ranked fifth while Instagram was in seventh place. Facebook also took top spot for downloads.

Streaming app Netflix was eighth on the list in terms of active users, with Spotify following at ninth place. File-sharing platform ShareIt rounded off the Top 10.

Mobile games and apps were excluded from the list and have their own ranking in terms of active users and downloads.

Top-downloaded apps that didn't make it to the list of apps with most active users include Capcut, a video editing software created by ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok.

Capcut was the fourth most downloaded app last year, just behind Facebook, Messenger, and GCash, and one rank above TikTok.

Google Meet was in eighth place for downloads, and Smart Communication's Gigalife app—which houses promos for its subscribers—was in tenth place.
