The Philippine National Police (PNP) has formally opened its Emergency Quarantine Facility at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
With a capacity of 120 beds, the facility aims to accommodate COVID-19 positive cases within the PNP institution. The newly constructed quarantine facility is fully air-conditioned, and is designed to have medical equipment similar to those in healthcare facilities. It is equipped with a nurse station, shower and bath, and handwash area.
In the blessing and turnover ceremony, PNP Chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said, “We are open to all possible means to mitigate the continued increase of COVID cases among our law enforcers, who are the country’s last line of defense in maintaining order amidst our fight against this contagion.”
Apart from this, the PNP has also announced the completion of their own RT-PCR Testing Center. Four officials from the PNP Health Service and Crime Laboratory will undergo training to operate the said laboratory.
Gamboa said he hopes the PNP will be able to activate the testing center in the next two weeks. "These quarantine facilities would be very material in the segregation of personnel, those who are suspected, and probable cases," he said.
As of this writing, there are 96 COVID-19 positive cases within PNP personnel, 215 Probable Persons Under Investigation (Probable PUIs), and 357 suspected Persons Under Investigation (PUIs).
