Vice President Leni Robredo said she was willing to work with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio if they both win in the 2022 elections, adding that it would be a "waste of political capital" to dwell on their differences.

Presidential aspirant Robredo is running against Bongbong Marcos, the only son and namesake of dictator Ferdinand Marcos, whose running mate is Duterte-Carpio, President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter.

"Ako oo, kahit hindi mo kakampi, makipagtulungan ka sa kanya. Nangyari na 'yan sa akin, hindi ko kasundo ang pangulo pero ako, I tried reaching out so many times," she told Rated Korina.

"Ngayon pa lang na tumatakbo kami, nandon na kami sa pag-unify with people who believe differently from us," she said.

Robredo was a part of the Duterte Cabinet twice. She was the head of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council in 2016 and also served as an anti-drug czar in 2019.

She left the Housing chief post after six months, citing how President Rodrigo Duterte's order for her to "desist from attending all Cabinet meetings" made her job impossible.

She was terminated as anti-drug czar after 18 days after Duterte said he did not trust her.

"When the extrajudicial killings were happening already, hindi puwedeng silencio lang ako," said Robredo, an outspoken critic of the drug war.
