The Philippine Red Cross on Tuesday launched drive-thru collection centers for saliva RT-PCR tests at SM Mall of Asia and SM Megamall, part of their efforts to bring more affordable testing close to the public.
MORE ON SALIVA TESTING:
The samples obtained will be sent to molecular laboratories for processing using RT-PCR machines, with results released in 12 to 24 hours.
Saliva testing skips the discomfort of the usual swab or RT-PCR test as it uses an individual's saliva as sample. This type of testing is cheaper and quicker than others, with a price tag of P2,000.
