More areas will be under a stricter modified enhanced community quarantine or MECQ from June 16 to 30 as the government seeks to control spikes in COVID-19 cases in different provinces.

And with the quick-changing community quarantines, many may have forgotten the rules under MECQ--the second strictest quarantine level in the country.

Here are the restrictions and rules you need to know for MECQ from June 16 to 30 according to Malacañang:

Movement

Just like in ECQ, strict home quarantine is still a must for all households. Authorized persons outside of residence (APORs) however are allowed to leave their homes for work and to buy essentials.

Age-based restrictions

Only those aged 18 up to 65 are allowed to go out of their homes.

Gatherings

Religious gatherings such as masses are allowed at up to 10% capacity of the venue and can be increased to 30% depending on the LGU covering the area.

Gatherings for wakes and funerals are also allowed in areas under MECQ with attendance limited to immediate family members.

Food and dining

Outdoor or alfresco dining is allowed under MECQ at 50% capacity but indoor dine-in remains prohibited. Local government units sometimes revise this general guidance so it's best to always check.

Outdoor non-contact sports

Individual outdoor exercises such as outdoor walks, jogging, running, or biking are allowed within their general area of their residence.

The following are prohibited from operating in all areas under MECQ:

  • Entertainment venues
  • Recreational venues
  • Amusement parks, fairs, playgrounds, kiddie rides
  • Traditional cockfighting and cockpits
  • Horse racing with off-track betting stations
