The Skyway Stage 3 will be closed indefinitely from 5 p.m. of March 16, upon orders of the Toll Regulatory Board, which the government denied.
San Miguel Corp, whose infrastructure arm operates the toll road, said it had "no choice but to comply" with the TRB's order to open Skyway Stage 3 only when all ramps are functioning.
The Department of Transportation said the TRB did not orer the closure. "The position of the TRB and its management is to keep Skyway Stage 3 OPEN for the benefit of all motorists," it said.
The conglomerate did not say when the ramps will be completed.
The Skyway Stage 3 left motorists in awe when it soft-opened late last year, allowing them to cross Metro Manila from north to south in less than half an hour.
