Tagaytay This Weekend? Metro Manila Residents Still Need Travel Passes: Police

MANILA -- Metro Manila residents seeking to go to Tagaytay for a break from the six-month-long quarantine still need to secure travel passes from their home local governments, a police official said Monday. Those coming to the city from other parts of Cavite don't need it.

The head of Joint Task Force COVID-19 Shield, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, was reacting to a statement from the Tagaytay City government that it would not require travel passes from tourists.

"Yung galing Metro Manila pag pupunta pong Cavite, dapat may reason ka ng pagpunta doon at kung hindi, dapat kukuha ka pa rin ng travel authority (If you're from Metro Manila, you need to explain why you will go to Cavite. If you don't have a valid reason, you need a travel authority.)," Eleazar told reporters.

"Unless baguhin po yan ng national task force yan pa rin po ang ating susundin (We will follow that unless the National Task Force changes it)," he added.

Metro Manila is under general community quarantine or GCQ while Tagaytay City is one notch lower, under Modified General Community Quarantine or MGCQ.

"While it is true na yung Tagaytay dineclare ng LGU nila na hindi na kailangan ang travel pass pagpasok po doon, yun po yung manggagaling ng Cavite (While it's true that the Tagaytay LGU waived travel passes, that only covers those from Cavite)," he said.
