Metro Manila's train lines will resume limited operations on Wednesday, when the capital region and its suburbs are placed under General Community Quarantine, with fewer restrictions, authorities said.

After a 2-week suspension due to the strict Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine, trains managed by the Light Rail Manila Corp (LRT-1), Light Rail Transit Authority (LRT-2), Philippine National Railways, and Metro Rail Transit Corp (MRT-3) will be allowed to reopen.

Apart from the usual face masks, face shields will also be required for all passengers and staff as prescribed by the Department of Transportation. Those who do not comply will not be allowed to ride the train.

Riders must undergo temperature scans before boarding the train and must maintain social distance inside carriages.

Talking, either with other passengers or on the phone, is prohibited in both the LRT-1 and LRT-2 to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 via droplets.

Trains will be disinfected after every trip to ensure the safety of commuters.
