Digital Vaccine Certificate is Accepted for Local Travel, Palace Says

Fully vaccinated Filipinos who are traveling locally can now use the VaxCertPH digital vaccine certificate as proof of immunization against COVID-19, Malacanang said Friday.

As of 1 p.m. Friday however, the VaxCertPH website availability is still limited to those traveling abroad. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 approved the adoption of VaxCertPH for domestic travel.

Local government units that do not have electronic vaccine administration systems will be required to adopt the Department of Information and Communications Technology Vaccine's Administration System, Roque said in a statement.

The government is widening availability of VaxCertPH as several tourist destinations in the Philippines dropped the COVID-19 test requirement for travelers in favor of vaccine cards or certificates.

Initially, VaxCertPH was only limited for use of Filipinos flying abroad.

The Philippines aims to fully vaccinate at least 50 million people before Christmas. So far, the country has fully vaccinated some 26 million individuals.
