Mama Mary is Viral on Twitter for Sharing Tarp with Politicians

"Mama Mary" was trending on Monday after netizens flagged a tarpaulin greeting the Catholic faithful for the Feast of the Nativity showing the mother of Jesus Christ flanked by four politicians.

One of the most popular tweets was from Father Fiel Pareja, who has two million followers of TikTok. "I am speechless?" Pareja said, adding in a follow-up post. "Again, why?"

The tarp, put up two days before the Sept. 8 Catholic feast, showed four Malabon officials -- Coun. Enzo Oreta, Mayor Lenlen Oreta, Cong. Jaye Lacson-Noel, and Vice Mayor Ninong dela Cruz -- flashing a common hand sign while the Blessed Virgin's photo was faded behind the text greeting.
