Tricia Robredo Confronts Grief: 'We'll Be Alright, I'm at Peace'

Vice President Leni Robredo's daughter, Tricia, told her mother's grief-stricken supporters that "we'll be alright" after an unofficial count of nearly all the votes on May 9 pointed to a landslide win by their opponent.

While grief can sow "unproductive anger", it can also serve as a reminder of "how fiercely you cared", said the second of Robredo's three daughters, who led house-to-house campaign sorties.

"I see it in Mama. I see it in my sisters. That’s why I’m at peace and that’s how I also know we’ll all be alright," she said in a Facebook post that was shared 79,000 times since it was posted midnight of Wednesday.

"Walang sayang. Kapit. Nagsisimula pa lang," said Tricia, echoing her mother's earlier statement.

The medical doctor said that while the election result is painful and difficult to grasp, it couldn't compare to the heartbreak of losing their father Jesse to a plane crash.

"We had to soldier on – dahil maraming umaasa at may mga laban na kailangang ilaban. Hindi nawala ang sakit pero mas lalong hindi nawala ang pagmamahal. Kaya nagpatuloy," she said.

"Kaya anuman ang maging resulta at anuman ang mangyari, taas noo. Hindi dapat ikahiya ang isang pusong pagod at sugatan."
